What we store about you

No account, no profile

You can read every page and download every file without signing up. We never ask for your email address, school or age, and no form on this site collects them. The support chat offers a box for a first name, and leaving it empty is fine.

What stays in your browser

Your revision ticks are saved in this browser's own storage, on this device. They are never sent to the server, so nobody else can see them — including us. Clearing your browser data clears them, and they do not follow you to another device.

If you start a support chat, this browser also keeps the conversation's key — a random string that lets you open the conversation again and read the reply. It is kept nowhere else you can see, and clearing your browser data forgets the conversation on this device.

Cookies

Two, and both only remember a choice you made so it survives from page to page. Neither is edible, which we accept is the disappointing part. One holds the exam board you picked, as a board name such as aqa. The other holds the word teacher if you switched a lesson to the teacher view, and is deleted the moment you switch back to the student one. Neither holds anything else, and there are no tracking or advertising cookies of any kind.

If you use the admin panel, a further cookie holds your sign-in session. That one only exists for whoever maintains the site.

The notice that greets you at the bottom of the page has no Reject all button, because there is nothing to reject: pick no exam board and none of this is ever baked. Nothing is shared with anyone, nothing follows you to another website, and nothing here is counted against you — the worst a cookie on this site can do is remember that you do OCR.

That notice keeps your answer in this browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, so the cookie banner is the one thing on the site that does not set a cookie. Yes, we heard it too.

Counting visits

We count how many people read the site, which pages, for how long, how far down, and roughly how they found it, so we know what is useful. It is built so that none of it can point back to you:

• No cookie and nothing saved in your browser. Your pages are grouped into one visit using a scrambled code made from your network address and browser, mixed with a random value that is thrown away every midnight. Tomorrow you are a stranger again, and the code cannot be turned back into your address.
• Your address and full browser details are never written down. What is kept is the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer), the browser's name and the operating system's name.
• Where you came from is just the other site's name — “google.com”, say — never the page you were on or what you searched for.
• Nothing is shared. There is no third-party analytics service: the counting is done by this site, on this site.

If your browser is set to send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, you are not counted at all. Visits are deleted after about two years; the daily page totals are kept longer.

The support chat

The chat button in the corner (it stays off lessons, so it never gets in the way of revising) sends what you type to whoever runs the site, so we can reply. We keep the messages, the first name if you gave one, which page you started on and when — nothing else, and no email address. Please do not put personal details in a message.

A conversation nobody has written in for 30 days is closed, and a closed conversation is deleted 90 days later. You can end one yourself at any time from the chat.

Server logs

The web host keeps standard access logs — the page requested, the time, the browser and the network address it came from. This is how nearly every website on the internet works, and it is what lets the host spot abuse and faults. We do not build profiles from them or pass them to anyone.

Downloads

We count how many times each file is downloaded, as a plain total per day. The count is not linked to you, your address or your session — it is a number that goes up, used to see which resources are worth expanding.

Other people's websites

Some pages link out to exam boards and other sites. Once you follow a link you are on their website, under their privacy policy, not this one.

Children

This site is written for GCSE students, many of whom are under 16. That is exactly why it collects no personal data: there is nothing here to hand over.

Asking us about your data

Because nothing here identifies you, there is normally no personal data of yours to show, correct or delete. If you think something on the site does identify you, get in touch and we will look into it and remove it.
